Stretch film manufacturers have begun to apply seven layers, nine layers, eleven layers or even more of coextruded composite films in the market, making it a trend and developing rapidly. The structural design of coextruded films is gradually pleading for the ideal situation of integrating functional technology, cost, environmental protection, safety and secondary processing into one, and replacing a single variety of polymers with two different polymers in the barrier layer.

The intermediate layer material is usually used to enhance a certain characteristic of the composite structure, such as barrier property, light shielding property, fragrance retention, strength and other characteristics. Nowadays, the most commonly used materials are aluminum foil (AL), aluminized film (VMCPP, VMPET), polyester (PET), nylon (NY), polyvinylidene chloride coated film (KBOPP, KPET, KONY), EVOH and other materials, the role of the adhesive layer is to bond the adjacent two layers of material together to form a composite structure, depending on the characteristics of the adjacent material and the composite process.

It can obviously improve the barrier property of the film. For example, separating the EVOH layer from the typical PA layer can not only maintain the puncture resistance of PA, but also increase the strength of EVOH and improve the crack resistance of EVOH. For a five-layer structure, if two different barrier layers are used at the same time, one of them can only be in the outermost layer, in order to prevent the outer barrier film from being easily damaged by external force and lead to the landing of the barrier effect, the method of increasing the thickness of PA is usually used to stop the compensation, resulting in the progress of cost.
